Claude Viallet is Emeritus Professor of Finance at INSEAD where he has been teaching since 1978. He was Visiting Professor of Finance at Northwestern University from 1984 until 2000. He received his Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin and his PhD in finance from Northwestern University. He is also a graduate from the Institut du Génie Chimique de Toulouse.
Before joining INSEAD, he was successively project manager in a major oil company and chief financial officer in a service company in Paris. His research and teaching interests are in corporate finance, investments, international asset pricing, and financial risk management.
He was President of the European Finance Association in 1982-1983 and he has published in leading academic and professional journals. He is also co-author of books on portfolio theory and on corporate finance. He has organized, directed and taught in management development programs in Europe, the United States, Asia and Latin America since 1980.
