Dirk Brounen is Professor in Finance and Real Estate at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University in the Netherlands. He studied economics at the University of Maastricht and received his PhD at the Tinbergen Institute in Amsterdam.
Dirk Brounen wrote his dissertation on Real Estate Securitization at the University of Amsterdam and has published his academic research in leading journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Journal of Applied Corporate Finance and Real Estate Economics.
In addition to his academic research he also has been involved in different professional research projects at Global Property Research, McKinsey and Company, and ABP. Dirk Brounen teaches courses in both Corporate Finance and Real Estate Finance at Erasmus University. He also teaches courses in Finance in executive programs at The Amsterdam School of Real Estate (SBV), the Chartered Financial Analyst Program (VBA), the Dutch Real Estate Broker Association (NVM) and Erasmus Executive Development (EED).
