Urs Peyer

Urs Peyer is an Associate Professor of Finance at INSEAD. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina and a lic.rer.pol. from the University of Berne, Switzerland. He has been a visiting professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago.

Urs Peyer's research interests include Empirical Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Executive Compensation, in particular stock option backdating. He publishes regularly in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies.  Recent publications include: "The Nature and Persistence of Buyback Anomalies" in the Review of Financial Studies, “CEO Centrality” and “Lucky CEOs”, both NBER working papers, and “Corporate Governance and the Timing of Option Grants” in the Journal of Finance.

Urs is teaching in INSEAD’s MBA and PhD programs, where he created an elective on Corporate Governance. He is also one of the directors of Finance For Executives program, a ten day executive education program at INSEAD targeted at non-finance executives. He has worked in the portfolio management team for Credit Suisse and was a jet pilot in the Swiss Airforce.
