BrainBite evening lecture & networking event 23 May

with Professor Jim Wahlen

We held another BrainBite lecture and networking event on the evening of 23 May: The Essential Role of Accounting in the Rise and Fall of Empires and Nations. This time the speaker was Professor Jim Wahlen who demonstrated - in a very entertaining manner - how important accounting has been in the history of nations.

Professor Wahlen took his audience on a journey through ancient Greece and Rome, stopped along the way to consider Leonardo da Vinci's achievements, continued through the Spanish empire, and pointed out that the Dutch have had a great impact on accounting and accountability.

There was a lively discussion after Jim Wahlen's presentation as various audience members offered their thoughts on matters such as the distributed ledger technology. The discussion continued afterwards over some drinks and delicious snacks.

Jim Wahlen teaches the highly regarded Advanced Financial Statement Analysis program at AIF, the next offering will be held 3-6 December. Contact us if you would like to receive more information.
