Message from AIF Managing Director
AIF – Global, Rigorous and Relevant

In the past months I have traveled to South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Oman, Qatar, and Shanghai.  AIF is expanding its horizons beyond Amsterdam and assessing on-site needs around the world. We are partnering with CFA Institute to bring our open enrollment programs to the Middle East, South Africa, China, and Europe, as well as continuing to provide custom made in-company programs all over the world.

To meet the demands of the current financial turmoil, our two new, year-long risk management programs, Executive Master of Science in Risk Management, and Financial Risk Control offer innovative as well as traditional approaches for controlling risk. Risk management is a rapidly developing field, no longer just the realm of antiquated modeling. Educating back room controllers as well as fast track, high level risk managers will become a priority for all corporate and financial institutions.

AIF is becoming a truly global training institute that teaches finance in a rigorous but yet relevant manner. It is our goal to focus on these three attributes even more as we move into a new year.

AIF goes Global with CFA Institute

CFA Institute awards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is globally recognized as leading the investment industry by setting the highest standards of ethics and professional excellence and vigorously advocating fair and transparent capital markets.
Following the success of this year’s initial open enrollment program in partnership with CFA Institute - Advanced Valuation in Dubai, in 2009 we will offer:  Advanced Corporate Valuation, Advanced Valuation, and Mergers and Acquisitions, variously in Johannesburg, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Dubai, and London. CFA members will receive a special rate for these programs (see www.aif.nl).

Because the World deserves better Risk Management

The Executive Masters of Science in Risk Management is a degree program in partnership with the prestigious NYU Stern School of Business. The program is comprised of 11 modules which take place over the course of a year from April 2009 to April 2010, in Amsterdam and New York City. This program is relevant for those interested in reaching the top of the risk management profession. The program covers all key dimensions of risk encountered in financial services firms and in the finance function of non-financial businesses. Participants will be given the tools and the credentials to become leaders in the field. At the program’s conclusion, participants will receive a Master’s degree from NYU Stern School of Business.

Our Financial Risk Control program is in partnership with The House of Finance of the Goethe University Frankfurt. It is comprised of 8 modules taught throughout 2009 in Amsterdam and Frankfurt. This program aims for a different type of participant. It targets controllers, auditors, and accountants who see a new need to understand basic risk management competencies – something that has thus far not been part of their training. They will learn technical competencies and mathematical modeling building, allowing them to integrate this knowledge into their functions for sound governance.  The first module of the program is scheduled to start on January 26, 2009.

PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers’ Association)

In November of last year, AIF and PRMIA jointly opened a PRMIA Chapter in Amsterdam, and since then have held four additional PRMIA seminars. AIF is also partnering with PRMIA in our risk management program offerings. PRMIA participants receive a special fee for some of our risk programs (please contact AIF for details). With PRMIA promoting our risk management programs to their members, AIF has additional global exposure via this association. Also, we are pleased that our new Executive Masters in Science in Risk Management program recently received provisional accreditation from PRMIA. PRMIA deems this program appropriately rigorous in preparing participants for careers as professional risk managers.

FMO (The Netherlands Finance Development Company)

AIF has entered into a partnership with FMO in order to educate professionals in developing countries. FMO supports the private sector in developing countries and emerging markets through loans, participations and guarantees. AIF views its partnership with FMO as a means to add substance to its corporate responsibility as a foundation. AIF’s financial expertise coupled with FMO’s development banking expertise unites two powerful players for greater developmental impact.
